From estate agency high flyer to broke - and back again!
I first started work in August 1988 - as a junior negotiator in an estate agency in Witney, Oxfordshire. By 2005 I was General Manager of The Guild of Professional Estate Agents - a network of over 500 independent estate agents across the country. I decided I was bored with the commuting backwards and forwards to London and returned to my roots - running a small Oxfordshire estate agency with only a 7 minute drive in the morning!
Fast forward to June 2007. I've just found out that my business partner has been screwing me (financially you understand). I now have £27,000 of personal debt and no way to pay the mortgage next month. The previously comfortable, company car and expensed life has suddenly and brutally been taken away from me.
So No Red Braces was born, with an idea and no money. I had to make this work but without the thousands per month I was used to spending on my own marketing. So I went out and talked to people, in quite a big way. I used business networking to grow a fledgling copywriting and marketing business. The rest, as they say.........
