Kyla Goodliffe (RSP Safety Services Ltd)
What is required by law?
The law states that every employer is required to appoint a competent person(s). An appointed competent person may either be an internal (trained) employee, or an external advisor.
The nature and size of your business will determine which route you take in appointing a competent person - we have many clients who are sole traders or SMEs, and also large clients who have internal safety advisors, but also employ us to back them up when needed.
There are three areas to our business: providing advice and support, including a policy and risk assessments; health and safety training from the shop floor up to the boardroom including that accredited by the Institute of Occupational Safety and Health (IOSH) and the Chartered Institute of Environmental Health (CIEH) (Levels 1 - 4); and specialist services such as audit, fire risk assessment, noise assessments, dust and fume sampling, ergonomic assessments, etc.
We are a family-owned and run company based in central Peterborough but we do travel widely throughout the UK.
I have four children so my employment history has come from working aroung them.
My career path has followed the administration/PA roles from customer services to PA for Directors of jewellery chain stores, MOD to Ambulance Service.
I started at RSP Safety on leaving the MOD, it was a natural progression for me to bring my administration skills to support health and safety consultants.
I enjoy hard work and try to exceed expectations at everything.
In my spare time, I enjoy my family, and when I am not delivering them somewhere, swimming, cooking and going out to the theatres and cinemas!
