4N AREA LEADER - GRANTHAM ◊ PETERBOROUGH

I spent 30 years with Granada and parted their company as Director of Projects in 2004 to setup my own business.

I'm married to Diana and have two children currently aged 8 and 12. We live in New York (Lincs) and I usually get a reaction when I say I've just flown in!

I love close-up magic and you'll occasionally find me performing a quick 40 sec stunt at some of my 4N meetings.

Other personal interests over time have been martial arts - Goju Rhu, Shotokan and Kempo, acoustic & electric guitar - I particularly like the distinctive sound of a Les Paul and loved the Google Doodles when they celebrated the 96th birthday -  and more recently learning to play the piano. I'm fascinated with the psychology of human behaviour, I've met my namesake Billy Connolly up in Newcastle and had an interesting time in 1992 when I spent about a year in Granada Studios in Manchester directing an IT project for the (then) new 4-star television themed hotel - V&A. I had an office next to the Coronation Street rehearsal room and this was a fun time.

I used to direct major hospitality IT projects for Granada and my last and most notable was the 2 years I spent putting in the IT technology and infrastructure in Oasis Holiday Village which is a 440 acre site in Whinfell Forest in Penrith - now a Centre Parcs.  I think my favourite saying at the end of this project was - "if you come to me with a problem, make sure you bring the solution with you!"

I'm an Area Leader with 4Networking and I manage 2 Groups in the Eastern Region - Grantham and  Boston. The groups are lively and exciting with dedicated people who wish to see business networking successful in their locations.

My long term ambition is to look back when I'm older (a lot older) and be able to say "I wish I'd spent more time at work" (oh yeah!)
