I have been married to Richard since 1982 and have 2 beautiful daughters. I have had quite a varied career path starting in with a year working in Lloyds Bank as a Batch Waste Clerk. I then left to do my State Registered Nurse training in Bath - qualifying in 1979.
I worked as a Staff nurse in a variety of specialties, but found my niche in the ITU environment. Over the next 10 years I worked my way up to Sister grade taking several additional qualifications on the way and also managed to enjoy over 2 years working in New Zealand. My last role in the NHS was as a Major Trauma Manager in charge of a research study covering 7 hospitals in the southwest of England.
Moving to Hampshire in 2000 I took time out to nurse my elderly mother. It was on my return to the workplace that I decided to change my career and became a professional fundraiser, at first for St John Ambulance and then for the Hampshire & Isle of Wight Air Ambulance. I had always had strong links with the charities working within the Intensive care environment so the progression was not as strange as it may seem, and as hoped I found this work very rewarding.
However I had always yearned to run my own business - but what! Then along came the opportunity to buy a Medics on the Move franchise. It married all my experiences together - my extensive knowledge and experience of working in the NHS - having lived in 20+ homes - having first hand experience of being a landlord - my love of property - and my wish to help people. So having successfully passed my qualification in Letting and Management, Medics on the Move (Southampton) was launch in October 2009.
In 2013 it was time to move on for myself. I yearned to tap into my creative side. My long time love and fasination with jewellery held the key. So I decided to see if my own designs and creations appealled to others. To my delight the answer was yes - so my new business was born. I make bespoke Jewellery using Precious and Semi precious gems, and wire work for clients who have a special occasion, or for everyday outfits to make them stand out from the crowd.
