Our values and beliefs:

Independence - in all its forms. Independence of thought, independence from product providers when recommending a product to a client and striving to help others become financially independent, which in tomorrow's increasingly economically driven world will be the only real guarantee of creating and retaining an independent lifestyle.

Wealth creation - creating and conserving wealth for our clients is one of our primary aims. This goes hand in hand with financial independence.

Honesty - this extends not only to our clients and employees, but also in the transparent way we deal with others.

Simplicity - financial planning should be a good experience, which is easy for the customer to understand, not a confusing and jargon-filled nightmare. This means using the right method to deliver financial planning, which we believe for the vast majority of people is via face to face impartial and independent advice.

Our commitment to you:
  • To provide totally impartial, independent advice - separating the advice process from the sale of products.
  • To enable you to achieve life goals through the efficient management of your finances.
  • Your interests come first at all times.
  • To always act professionally and with integrity.
  • Our team based service will be delivered in a friendly, courteous and responsive manner.
  • Complete confidentiality.
  • To meet timescales set, or to inform you if these cannot be met.
  • Always be transparent in the commission we take or the fees we charge.
  • As client feedback is important to our development and improvement, we welcome your ideas, comments and suggestions.

About Tim Cockram
I am able to offer independent advice on personal financial planning with the aim of protecting you and your family and preserving and growing your personal wealth. This would include pensions and retirement planning, tax planning, investment management, life and serious illness protection and mortgages.

Within my local team expertise is on hand to also offer trust planning and corporate financial planning.

Background

I can draw upon 13 years of varied experience of providing financial advice and dealing in the financial services market when making recommendations to you.

After completing a Geography degree at Loughborough University I embarked upon a 'fast track' course into financial advice working for the Bristol & West Building Society.
After several years a desire to offer 'Independent' rather than 'tied' advice took me to the mortgage broker John Charcol in Exeter and following a take over by Bradford & Bingley I spent five years working with them in Devon advising on mortgages and investments.

A brief stint in the high net worth division of Barclays was interesting but ultimately proved to me that the sales focus of a larger organisation is not always conductive to building a trusting business relationship with clients.

This was followed by nearly 4 years at Prudential representing the insurer in dealings with independent advice firms. This opened my mind to examples of both good and bad practice in the advice sector and provided me with a new perspective on the financial services market place.

I enjoy the face to face contact and satisfaction of advising clients. To do this as the financial advice sector evolves to an increasingly professional level represents an exciting time to be able to provide advice.

The risk based 'active' investment process employed by  Chetwood combined with a charging structure based on long term client relationship rather than short term upfront commissions is refreshing. A service offering pro-active portfolio reviews and rebalancing of client funds also fits with my own views about how to provide quality financial planning for the future.
