I left Inveness in Sept 2004, i arrived in Fuerteventura on a one way ticket and 7 bags, i was ready to start a new life but i hadn't anything arranged, i found a surfers hostel & booked in for a week.

I started networking imediately, i explained that i was looking for a way to make money and may even buy an existing business. Over the next few weeks i bought SEVERAL beers and coffee's for some of the locals, ( most people can be bribed to give you a bit of info )

I was offered lot's and lot's of bars but that wasn't my scene, eventually after a couple of months i bought some land & built a large villa. I then started a "Hikin n Bikin" business as i had been a walk leader in the Highlands of Scotland for the previous 16 years, i bought an old Landrover and then whilst my property was being built i went out and had FUN in the SUN, trekking, mountain biking and 4 x 4 trips.

People were giving me money for it !! "if you fall in LOVE with your job, you will never have to go to work again" cool

After 2 years i bought another business which took me to one of the smaller and lesser know of the Canary Islands, La Palma.

I fell in LOVE with it, it's sooooooooooooo green, masses of tropical fruits and NO British bars, NOT even ONE, yeahh , it's known as La Isla Bonita, the pretty Island.

The new business didn't work out, i was getting stressed and not cracking jokes anymore so i said feck it all and took some time out. A bit more networking took me to Lanzarote with the intention of only staying for 3 weeks. That was 3 and a half years ago, i started exploring the rugged part's of Lanza away from the tourist area's, Lanza started growing on me.

I live in an old rustic styled house in a Canarian village over looking the protected area's down to Famara, i just get SOOOOOO much satisfaction from showing people around my "playground" they all comment on how lucky i am ,

i'm FORTUNATE , yes , but we make our OWN luck.

I was introduced to 4N by a good friend from Aberdeen, Peter Stewart, we had also been business partners in Scotland where we originally met at a business networking group.

I have chosen several 4N members to do business with as i believe that they will be "policed" by their association with 4N , i found their products and services through the 4N forum.

So over 6 years have passed since i made the move from Inverness, now i just enjoy the LIFESTYLE & have the benefit of SUN for approx 333 days a year, "i know it's a poxy life but someone has gotta do it".
