Mike has qualified as one of the first Domestic Green Deal Advisors. GDA are qualified to give advice on energy efficiency measures in the home, i.e. how to save money on your energy bill. We are also able to assist in providing a Green Deal loan to pay for any improvements that might be recommended which means no extra outlay for the home - ask me how!
The Energy Performance Certificate (EPC) was introduced in 2007 to give householder information as to the energy and CO2 profile of their property. An EPC is now required when you are selling or renting a property, including holiday lets. An EPC, with a rating of ‘D’ or higher, is required when a solar array is being installed on a property or the Feed in Tariff payment will drop to nine pence a unit.
Mike qualified to carry out these assessments in 2007 and has recently upped the qualification to meet the new requirements from April 2012. Because of his knowledge Mike is specialising on servicing the Solar EPC market. The Energy Performance Certificate will give the building a rating from A to G. An A rating shows it is very efficient, meaning lower fuel bills, while G is inefficient, meaning higher fuel bills and probably not very comfortable place to live. The Certificate will also show the building's environmental impact by indicating its CO2 emissions. The Certificate also gives advice on how to reduce the energy bills for that property and show what improvement measures are fundable through The Green Deal
Solar Panels for domestic and commercial property are the best way of not only saving money but at this present time, making money. Under the Feed In Tariff scheme the utility company pay out for every unit of electricity generated, this payment is guaranteed to rise with inflation every year for 25 years and is tax free. At present a 4kWp array will give an income of approximately £800 to £900 per year.
