1 Don't Stop Me Now – Creativity in action

This training sets out to develop approaches to creative thinking and innovative practice.

Participants will be encouraged to experience using a variety of creative approaches and methods closely linked to their business or enterprise.

2 You are the Customer? Welcome – How Can I Help You?

Training to enable participants to better understand and learn from 'the full customer journey' in relation to their enterprise.

The course seeks to clarify who our customers are in the context of broad Stakeholder framework.

Issues to be dealt with include:

  • How to handle initial contact and follow up
  • Telephone, electronic and written communications with Customers
  • Techniques for face to face contacts including how to deal with difficult customers and risky situations

3 Introduction to Research Design and Methods in Business

The training provides a first level understanding of the principles and main tools used in setting out to undertake research processes in businesses and social enterprises.

It is suitable for staff of all grades who are becoming involved in undertaking research for the first time or who wish to remind themselves of the principles underpinning research processes.

 

4 Substance Use and Misuse Related to the Workplace

The focus of this training is on legislative and organisational policies and procedures in addition to assisting Managers to develop the knowledge and skills to deal effectively with staff whose performance is under review due to alcohol or drug misuse. Aspects of drug and alcohol testing are also addressed.

5 Security Awareness

This course focuses business owners and managers on broad issues of Security. Areas covered include legal frameworks, and policies and procedures; security of premises and physical assets and personal security. It is suitable for business owners, managers and staff whose roles involve aspects of managing security or who wish to develop a greater understanding of orgnisational security. Remember, Security is everyone's business!

6 Dealing with Risky Situations

The course is aimed towards staff and managers who encounter or are likely to face difficult or potentially dangerous situations involving Customers or Service Users. A key element of the training is dealing with personal safety and security and what to do in the aftermath of an incident. Aspects of organisational Policy and Procedure are incorporated.

7 Stand and Deliver: Presentation Skills

Presenting, to large public audiences or small internal groups is an everyday feature for most of us in business.

The Presentation Skills 'Stand and Deliver' module enables the development of powerful message driven delivery that really enables you to fully engage with your audience and adds significant impact to your message.

Participants will develop techniques dealing with stance, using voice effectively including the use of 'projection, pause and pace'; speech construction, how and when to use humour, how to present data, the use of notes, personal appearance and stance and how to gain audience rapport.

Being highly interactive, the training is suitable for those whose personal or working life necessitates being able to communicate effectively with large or small audiences.

A variant of this training is available for staff who may have to give evidence in Court.

8 Managing Meetings

Encompassing all aspects of meeting management, from preparation through to auditing actions, the course is as suitable for new meeting hosts as it si for experienced managers.

Alternative meeting styles linked to personal styles and those of the organisation enable participants to develop competence that 'best fits' with their organisation.

9 Negotiation

Concerning itself with enabling participants to achieve more effective long term outcomes from individual and group negotiations, this training is directed towards personnel wishing to explore alternative approaches to increasing their effectiveness.

The core of the training is the development of 'active listening' coupled with 'reflective skills', coupled with an understanding of the role of 'emotional intelligence'. Combining these approaches enables the development of resolutions to personal and organisation negotiations.

10 Changes – Life Transitions

When significant life and work changes are impending, the course enables individuals to be better placed to adapt and move forward positively.

Training is especially beneficial to those facing redundancy or retirement, enabling participants to identify options and opportunities as well as develop adaptive skills.

It is adaptable to those whose work roles are about to change significantly.

11 Interviewing

A comprehensive approach to interview skills development for managers and supervisors involved in staff appraisals, retentions matters, discipline and grievance and exit interviews.

Personal styles, structured and semi-structured interviewing techniques, listening and reflective skills, recording, note taking, joint interviewing, security and follow are set in the contexts of organisational cultures, policies and procedures.

There is a separate specific course dealing with the topic of 'Motivational interviewing'.

 

12 Mentoring and Supervision

The module is concerned with the development of skills and inter-personal processes needed to develop staff. Approaches to staff development through supervision, coaching or mentoring are linked to learning styles of both parties and to the supervisor's leadership preferences in addition to the organisation's management styles.

The training is suitable for new or recently in post supervisors as well as more experienced leaders wishing to update knowledge and skills.

13 Effective Writing Skills

From the perspective of writing a range of different publications this module focuses on structure, language, style and content.

Participants will be prepared to produce and deliver concise, clear focused materials that impact on their target audiences.

 

14 Strategic, Operational and Tactical Planning

 

A course designed to enable managers and planners develop meaningful strategic, operational and tactical plans. The training also addresses contingency planning and risk management.

Whole organisation processes encompassing team and individual goals and targets are reviewed to ensure that plans are integrated.

The training is suitable for business owners in addition to public and Third Sector managers who must implement plans.
