That audience could be potential clients/customers during a sales pitch or at a seminar; staff at an internal meeting or conference or potential introducers and business partners at a networking event. Whether you are speaking for 40 seconds or an hour you must make the right impressions. Discover the secrets of the very best speakers; learn:

  • to use our six-step research and planning tool to help pull together a fantastic presentation
  • how to handle your nerves - if you have them
  • how to structure your presentation for the greatest impact... and recall,
  • how to choose the words to use,
  • how to use visual aids - properly
  • how to manage distractions.

New Tricks has trained thousands of people from a wide range of organisations, large and small, from vicars at The Church of England to gardeners at The National Trust; from accountants at Grant Thornton and salespeople at npower.

About Ken Norman

When he was born, in 1962 Ken Norman weighed just 6lb 9oz. How things have changed.

At the age of 18 he left school in rural Essex to join the NatWest Bank working in the City of London for 17 years. During this time Ken was a keen thespian clocking up over 80 appearances and directing ten productions with drama groups in Braintree, Bocking, Chelmsford and Colchester. It was his love of performing that meant that at work he was quickly volunteered for any presentations and talks that need to be given. Managerial roles at the bank's City Region Sales and National Sales meant that there were many opportunities to present. In 1997 Ken started work at the bank's training college at Heythrop Park and it was here that he met Tim Lyon his partner (purely in a business sense, you understand) at New Tricks.

In 2000 Ken and Tim left NatWest to set up the business but not before having a "Gap Year" to write, produce and perform a two-man comedy review at Her Majesty's Theatre in the West End of London. Find out more here.

In the ten years since Ken and Tim have become well known as trainers and key-note speakers in their own right, specialising in Presentation and Sales Skills Training.

Ken still enjoys performing and has recently appeared as Friar Lawrence in Romeo & Juliet at The North Wall in Oxford, as an Emperor Butterfly again in Oxford, a prison guard in the movie Mean Machine and as an official in Top Gear. He is occasionally found on the comedy club circuit performing stand-up as Ken Normal. He's currently in rehearsal for an evening of comedy and magic at The Chipping Norton Theatre in September.

In his spare time Ken is a Director/Trustee of The Lido at Chipping Norton an award-winning heated outdoor swimming pool (the one Jeremy Clarkson drove a Rolls Royce into.) He's also a dad to Lia & Eve, husband to Kate, brother to Judith, Joanna & Cathryn, Uncle to Lola & Saffron and son of Patricia. He's always surrounded by women and that's why he's in a permanent bad mood.
