Geoff Doran (Active Window Solutions Ltd)

Active Window Solutions was formed in June 2009. We are located in Thornbury, South Gloucestershire and supply and install windows, doors and conservatories within a 50 Mile radius of Thornbury.

There are three arms to the business.

New Build - our strength is contract management ensuring that all items are installed to the correct specification and on-time.

Trade - being located next to the only builders merchant in the town we supply many of the laccaly based builders.

Retail - replacing windows and doors in residential properties in the Gloucestershire and South Gloucestershire area. We have a slightly different approach, we survey a property and send a quotation in the post and allow the houseowner to make the decison in their own time rather than being on th ewrong end of a pressure sale. It works!!!!

I am a Shipwright by trade, completing a 5 year apprenticeship in HM Naval Base, Chatham, which sadly is now closed.

I started my own joinery business in the early eighties but kept getting beaten up on price by Boulton & Paul Joinery, so I joined them as a Sales Representative and then progressively moved into PVC-u as the market changed.

I worked for many of the market leaders supplying the new build market before starting a business in 1996 in Evesham, Worcestershire which became one of the major suppliers of new build PVC-u windows and doors. For many reasons I left that business in 2005 and got interested in new heating technologies and became a sales agent selling CHP, ground and air source heat pumps and biomass boilers.

In 2009 I had my arm twisted to get back into the window industry and Active Window Solutions was born.

I live in Willersey, Worcestershire with my Wife, Jen and have 2 sons who are 24 & 25 and both live in Kent.

Our Social life revolves around Broadway Golf Club and as Jen and I have similar handicaps (12 &13) our golf gets very competative.

I am a long suffering supporter of Gillingham Football Club.
