To all 4N'ers feel free to pick my brains!
I am currently developing a book and service to any businesses who have experienced a BAD DEBT, on how to avoid it happening again. Minimising your risks by identifying the signs of a potential BAD DEBTOR could save your business from a costly loss.
How can I do this..... well since the mid-1990's I have worked in insolvency firms so I have seen a multitude of situations which arise from people getting into debt. My aim is to educate business people so they can see the signs and to those in debt reach out to them early enough to reduce the stresses and losses on their lives and the lives of the people they touch.
So in my insolvency job our motto is; 'Our Advice is Take Advice ™'
I have over the years had a varied career which has been an advantage as I have experienced various industries and business types:
I qualified with an HND in Agriculture from Harper Adams in 1988.
I then went onto work in a specialist area of agriculture before changing career to work in light engineering.
In 1996 I took a new direction and joined a Warwickshire insolvency practise in an administrative role. I worked my way up in the insolvency business to the position of Senior Manager, a post I held for 4 years. In 2004,
I went into partnership with my colleague David Bottomley in establishing Bottomley & Co.
One of Paul's aims is to enlighten the business community to the signs of a potential insolvency and the key triggers which bring about an insolvency. Identifying these signs and triggers can enable business people to take advice on the consequences of insolvency.
I am a member of the Insolvency Practitioners Association
In the years since then I have expanded my experience managing a number of trading and non-trading Administrations. During my entire insolvency career I have specialised in setting up and administering Voluntary Arrangements (IVAs, PVAs and CVAs) for individuals, partnerships and limited companies.
Outside of work, I read Terry Pratchett's books (referred to in my 'Trousers of Time' 4Sight). I am a avid gardener, which I protect from two dogs and two cats!
