Contraception Education is a CIC (a Social Enterprise registered with Companies House) - we have a background in public health practice (nursing midwifery and health visiting) and academia (former senior lecturer at the University of Salford). We provide excellent sex education resources Here is part of an advertising campaign we did for local radio http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ncb4QrdnLWs&feature=player_embedded We also deliver sex education training at all levels. We work in schools, youth groups and local authorites - training young people and their trainers/workers.
Read a feature about published in Social Media here - http://www.contraceptioneducation.co.uk/docs/cicprofile.JPG
From time to time we are called on to deliver education in less affluent communities in the UK and internationally, and for that we rely on donations and support from friends, partners and colleagues to cover our costs. We are registered with Ammado as a not for profit organisation and can receive donations made by card or Paypal
To make a donation to our important community work via Ammado please visit this page
Qualified as a nurse in 1975 and continued into Midwifery, Health Visiting, teaching in Further Education (where I invented Contraception the Board Game) and eventually Senior Lecturer in Higher Education where I worked until I retired in 2010. I am passionately interested in "all things health", including a leisure activity of Yoga and Meditation.
I now spend a large percentage of my time talking to groups of people in many different settings - one example can be found here http://schoolspeakers.co.uk/speaker-profiles/barbara-hastings.html and also advising people on the telephone on a one to one basis about health in general, sexual health in particular for example http://www.greatvine.com/barbara-hastings-asatourian and of course tweeting via @BarbaraHA and @ContraceptionEd (please be prepared for explicit sexual content and pictures of knitted genitals!)
How did I get into Contraception Education? It's quite a story which started when I was a teenager in the 1960's. For the full story please visit http://www.contraceptioneducation.co.uk
