Western Provident Association (WPA), one of the UK´s most respected health insurers with a heritage of over 110 years, is driven by the satisfaction of customers - offering excellent value and quality of service that´s second to none. When it comes to your health you want the best, and that’s exactly what you get from WPA.
We provide our customers the freedom to choose who treats them as we believe this is a clinical decision and not a commercial one.
Our business continues to grow – built on very strong financial reserves. More and more of the UK’s leading companies and global brands such as Fujitsu, Vodafone, Toyota and Mars trust us to run their healthcare schemes, but we also provide health insurance, cash plans and dental plans for individuals, their families, self-employed, professionals and SMEs.
WPA treat others how we want to be treated ourselves. We continue to invest in technology that helps us deliver a seamless and efficient service.
In a recent survey 74%* of Doctors said they would commend WPA to family, friends and colleagues over other leading health insurers. We have been recognised as the UK's best health insurer for customer service winning the 2014 Cover Excellence Awards - September 2014 and the 2014 Health Insurance Awards - October 2014.

After 27 years working for TSB, Lloyds TSB and Lloyds Banking Group, including seven years as a Senior Manager, I left banking early in 2010. At that time, I had every intention of staying well away from Financial Services and was looking to set something up locally. As part of my investigation into a range of possible franchises I stumbled across WPA Healthcare Practice. I was immediately impressed by the culture and values within WPA and after much investigation, I was convinced that WPA was as serious about Customer Service as it said it was. It was also very difficult not to be impressed by other WPA credentials such as the not-for-profit status, the 100 year+ heritage, and the various awards and British Standards Accreditations WPA had received in recent years. After a good number of meetings (including several with existing Healthcare Partners), I finally decided to join WPA as a Healthcare Partner and completed my training in September 2010. 5 years on and I haven't been disappointed. While it's hard work starting from scratch, WPA's quality really does help tremendously - and it doesn't feel like Financial Services. I've also found 4N to be excellent for networking in an enjoyable environment. It might take longer to build relationships than through some other networking groups, but you're building far more of them due to being able to passport. Over the last five years I have undertaken every team role within 4N and am now a Regional Leader.
Outside of work, I'm married to Danielle with a 17 year old Daughter (now driving - yikes!) and a 15 year old Son. Dani & I spend most of our non-work time on activities to support them. These include being Head Coach of Dursley U15s (where I'm also on the Mini & Youth Committee). I'm a season ticket holder at Derby County (30 years after I last had a season ticket) and have successfully indoctrinated both of our children too. We also enjoy skiing (and got married on skis in Heavenly, USA on Christmas Eve 1999).
