Scotz.Net, and its sister company The Perfect Solution, have been in and around the Tayside area since 1997. You probably haven't heard of us because we don't advertise and we don't shout loudly. Virtually all our business is done through word of mouth and most of our customers have been with us for the long haul, often ten years or more.

We are different from most businesses in that we specialise in providing services to micro and small businesses, often one or two person businesses. If a customer has five employees or more then we see them as a major account. We know that micro and small businesses, despite their vast numbers, are unloved, unwanted and uncherished by large service providers. A strange state of affairs as, with micro and small businesses; office politics are virtually unknown, the decision maker is known and accessible, personal traits such as honesty and reliability are recognised and the quality of the work is as important as the price.

What do we do? Scotz.Net provide a wide range of Internet related services including: web site development, web site hosting, e-mail services, Internet based marketing (our database of local businesses is 8,000+ and rising), Cloud based systems and remote access enabling you to work anywhere including the office, the car and, most importantly, your home. Most importantly "your home" because you can go to work, get back home in time to play with the bairns and then do your admin work without having to go back to the office. Yes, you will still work long hours but at least you can work around your family rather than instead of it. Welcome back the work / life balance.

Hi.

My name is Gary Smith. Do I wax lyrical about me personally or do I expand a little about how my skills can help you. Well, the former is probably best done blethering over a glass of malt and the latter is how I can help you make money. So, with a recession in full swing, the latter is probably more appropriate.

Come 16th March 2012, it will be forty years since I first touched a computer (for anyone who saw Michael Caine in the film Billion Dollar Brain - it was one of them). Since then, I have expanded my skills to include operations, programming, systems analysis, accounting, Organisation and Methods, team management, factory management and business consultancy. I have helped businesses to start up, turn round, shut down and become privatised. I have worked in Armenia, Georgia, Hungary, Nigeria and Russia. I have worked in the defence, distribution, education, engineering, food, information technology, manufacturing, retail,  transportation and utility industries. The vast bulk of this experienced was gained as the owner of a small business.

What do I bring to the party? A huge amount of experience in a wide range of businesses. Very broad shoulders that can handle difficult situations and, at the same time, take the stress off you so you can carry on running your business. I am very hard nosed about business. My role is to make you money and help put your business in a stronger position.
