I can honestly say that I've never made life easy for myself but it certainly hasn't been dull, especially the past 4 years.
I remarried in April 2007 and my wife Jan and I (together with my lovely stepdaughter, Hazel, who has autisim) decided to move to Ireland. In doing so I gave up a steady job working as a HR Manager for a waste management company and ended up in Galway working for a Oil Distribution/Petrol Forecourt organisation, as their HR Manager. The experience was invaluable and as the Irish would say it was great "craic" (pronounced crack, meaning fun).
For family reasons we moved back to Charlton, London but I travel back to Ireland as and when required where I still provide HR advice, support and guidence. It also gives me the chance meet up with some wonderful people, whom I count as my friends.
Coming back to London and in my mid 50's, I decided to set up my own business and now operate a franchise through the HR Dept. supporting small businesses in "keeping it people legal".
Wearing my Fulfil HR services hat I specialise in supporting companies in discovering and identifying latent talent within their organisation, using coaching to help nurture and grow people who will be the future of the company in the years ahead (I obtained a Business & Executive Coaching Diploma whilst in Ireland).
The O'Keeffe family motto is "Nothing is Difficult to the Brave & Faithful" which I have lived by, even when life can be difficult at times. There's a lot to be said for attending the University of Life and learning new skills.
