Selling skills still required
The internet has had a great impact upon the way we buy stuff. Sure, I bought a rail ticket online this morning to travel up to Basingstoke next week to deliver a training workshop.
But what about significant purchases? We need to have confidence in the quality and reliability of the products and services we will receive. In short, what makes us buy business from others and vice versa? I maintain that the skills of the sales team contribute greatly to the transactions which go on in our everyday business world. Not only in 'closing the sale' but from the networking we do to raise our profile, through the way we make telephone calls, provide customer service and make sales presentations.
