5 Ways for Girls to Get on Top

1. Lack of Focus: Most women are overcommitted in their time by 25%. Women feel guilty if they are not pleasing everyone. We over commit, let people down. We look and feel disorganised.

We must learn to do fewer things very well.

Ask yourself: What is one thing that I could drop today, which would immediately relieve the overwhelm - and allow me to do fewer things, very well?

2. Fear of Being Aggressive: Typically, women hold back from asking for the business; we feel it is too aggressive. 45% of most services are based on the recommendations of others. The secret is to be "pleasantly aggressive"!

We must learn to keep proactively asking for new business, referrals and testimonials. And be pleasantly aggressive.

Ask yourself: Who should I be asking for a referral or a testimonial?

3. Inconsistent Follow-Up: Women often get accused by well-meaning partners that we aren't really working - we're just gossiping! 80% of sales are made on the 5th contact. Be confident when spending time talking to prospects that you ARE performing a core business activity.

We must learn to be sociable. And understand this as a core business activity.

Ask yourself: Who do I need to talk to today?

4. Ineffective Planning: Women don't always give enough time and attention to business planning. We may think of marketing as a complicated task for "experts".

We must learn to choose those marketing techniques that feel more natural, effortless and enjoyable.

Ask yourself: What marketing actions come naturally and effortlessly to me?

5. Staying a Secret: Women are typically fearful of the limelight. We may spend too much time on "passive promotion" - perfecting a brochure, fiddling with webcontent, copying out notes.

We must learn to actively connect with large numbers of people.

Ask yourself: What actions can I do today to connect with larger numbers of people?
