What? More holidays for staff?

There are many employers out there who feel that employees already get enough paid time off from their employment. Conversely, there are employees who feel that they should have more time off work. This will always be the case. The increase will come in two stages. The first stage is effective from 1st October 2007 when statutory leave periods increase from 20 days per annum to 24. This will be followed by a further increase in April 2009 when the leave will increase from 24 days to 28 per annum. One saving grace is that as before, this additional holiday entitlement can be inclusive of bank holidays. If you are one of those employers who currently offer 20 days holiday per year plus 8 bank holidays then guess what? You have already met the criteria and will be ahead of the game.
