When a manufacturer of large equipment and machinery held its national sales conference, the company sought to build employee morale during the course of the event. With an emphasis on the challenges associated with "juggling with life," the company used a juggling theme to get everyone excited about the conference and a new sales promotion.
Upon their arrival at the hotel when they checked in they received a set of three company-logoed juggling balls. The delegates were given the opportunity to practice the art of juggling in their hotel rooms prior to the evening's dinner and entertainment.
The following day at the meeting, the company held juggling contests, with categories to accommodate beginners, intermediates and expert jugglers. The company categorized the event as the most successful sales meeting ever, which was proven by a sales increase of 40 percent the following quarter. The conference was one that everyone talked about long after it was over.
