Physically present but psychologically absent

Are your people physically present but psychologically absent from work?

Four out of Five UK employees do not consider themselves engaged in work. This is estimated to cost the British economy more than £46 billion each year*.

Poor management is squeezing the life out of UK businesses and this stems from a lack of understanding of their staff.

“Many employers pay lip service to the concept of staff motivation. In reality few truly understand what drives their people. Lack of understanding leads people to become disillusioned with their job, company and boss, which impacts productivity and ultimately the bottom line,” comments Martin Reed, Chief Executive of Thomas International. “Self awareness and an awareness of other people’s styles is crucial if you are going to gain commitment and maximise performance.”

“companies and teams fail because of mismatched needs, unresolved conflicts, personality clashes and lack of trust. All these can be addressed through understanding and recognising how each person in the team behaves and responds in different situations. Self awareness will create a strong platform from which even more ambitious performance goals can be achieved.”

The Personal Profile Analysis (PPA) from Thomas International provides an insight into how people behave at work answering questions such as what are their strengths and limitations? Are they self starters? What motivates them? How do they communicate?

Insights gained from the PPA will lead to a greater understanding of why your people behave the way they do, which can be used to hone your communication and management skills.
