Regular dental treatment is important for maintaining good oral hygiene.
More than a quarter (26%) of people in England does not see a dentist once every two years, according to figures from the Healthcare Commission.
The survey of 69,000 people found that in some primary care trusts this figure rose to 43%.
Fifty per cent of respondents said they visited an NHS dentist this regularly, while 24% did so as a non-NHS patient.
The survey also found that 79% of those who did not receive NHS dentistry would like to be able to do so, with this figure ranging from 54% to 88% across trusts.
There are numerous affordable sullutions to this problem. One in particular is a health cash plan which offers assistance with payment of every day medical bills. From merely 1pound a week you can have a plan in place to help pay up to 60 pounds of dentist bills each year.
The guru's are speaking out that people should take more responsibility for their own health, and dental health makes a huge part of this.
Looking at benefits to employees, studies suggest that having a dental benefit offered is a huge attraction to large numbers of qualified jobseekers.
Even to employees the cost of providing such a benefit can be as low as 1 pound per employee per week. Add their kids for 15pence per child per week.
