Churchill, Brad & Your 4N Invitation this Thursday
“Kites rise highest against the wind, not with it” – Winston Churchill
Sadly Churchill’s quote is often dangerously used by crazy business people with even crazier ideas and little grasp of reality – the kind you see getting chewed up and spat out on Dragons’ Den. Indeed there are many times in business when you should just go with the flow. If most people want to buy silver widgets, it’s no good if all your stock is of red ones. And your kite isn’t going to get ripped to shreds or pulled out of your hands if you’re not flying against the wind.
But sometimes in business the wind can change.
And what Churchill was clearly alluding to when he said those words was that when faced with an ill wind, you must rise to its challenge.
And I’m seeing something of the ‘Dunkirk Spirit’ coming out in many businesses at the moment. Business owners are saying that they’re not going to let talk of recession get in the way of their growth plans. In fact I’m speaking to more and more who realise that getting good at marketing now gives them a hugely multiplied advantage over their competitors who just aren’t getting it. It would appear that small and medium sized businesses are coming out fighting in their droves.
One entrepreneur who can testify to this is Brad Burton, Managing Director of business networking group 4Networking. 4Networking allows businesses of all sizes to network both at breakfast meetings and online, and Brad is seeing a boom – the network will add its 10,000th member this week after just 2 ½ years’ trading.
‘Business owners from tradesmen to the likes of much bigger IT companies all recognise that they need to have new ways to get customers through the door if they’re going to grow their businesses during this period’, says Brad. ‘Networking provides a high return and gets them out there talking to other business owners who’re doing the same thing. Increasingly there’s a feeling amongst businesses that with the right tools, and by doing the right things, they can get through this profitably.’
It’s an inspiring story about businesses from all over the UK finding new ways to do business rather than complain about tough times. You can find out more about them at:
www.4networking.biz/welcome.htm. Most excitingly for these people is that this mindset is exactly that of the worlds’ best, and wealthiest, entrepreneurs and how they deal with changes in economic conditions. They simply go about finding new strategies to pull in customers and profits.
And it reinforces that point about human nature. Those who seek new ways to grow their businesses will find them. Those who can spot the opportunities that will be ahead will be best placed to take them. Those that are open minded enough to become great marketers will take great bits of the market. They will also have the added benefits of being able to leave competitors behind more quickly at the moment and of having increased buying power when they’re dealing with suppliers. Or even buying a few luxuries.
So it’s imperative that you grab the opportunities that are before you. Now is the time to look at how the best do it, and to model how they market their businesses in these times. To help you I’m inviting you to a FREE telephone seminar this Thursday (11th) at 3.00pm BST, when I’ll be giving you a complete guide to:
* How the wealthiest entrepreneurs think
* How to turn the 'credit crunch' into opportunity
* The hidden wealth within your business
* The five principles of marketing success that never change
* How to avoid the marketing mistakes made in recessions
* How to easily build multiple marketing strategies
* The best ways to introduce new strategies
* Why this just might be the big turning point for women entrepreneurs. Watch out gentlemen, the worm could be about to turn.
Yes you read the last one right. There is plenty of socio-economic evidence to suggest that female entrepreneurs may have the upper hand during this downturn. Miss it at your peril.
To take part all you have to do is book your place by clicking through below and I’ll send you the number to call on the day. We’ve booked a huge number of lines because there will be a scramble for places so please grab your place as quickly as you can. We’ll be on the phone for an hour or so, so I’ve lined up a freefone number for you too.
I’m happy if you want to let other business people know and join in, but similarly they’ll need to get registered quickly.
Let’s learn to rise high in the face of this wind.
I look forward to speaking to you on Thursday,
Jon
