A change to your driving style can reduce fuel consumption by as much as 15%.  The benefit of this reduction are reduced emmisions, reduced wear & tear, increased logevity for your tyres, your vehicle(s), reduced fuel costs, reduced insurance premiums, and the kist goes on.

In short, if you drive 20,000 miles per year, just a few small changes to your driving style could save you £1000.00 per year and reduce your CO2 footprint.

15% is a huge amount which I am sure many drivers do not appreciate. This efficiency is an important aspect to the challenges facing the motorist today!

I've looked in to converting my vehicles to bio-diesel, but have come to the conclusion that it just isn't really worth it. So for anyone thinking about converting, take the following in to account:

There's the issue about diverting production away from food and associated de-forestation, etc.etc.

There's the cost of converting your vehicle (which admittedly doesn't need to be much - from £100 upwards I think?).  However, it seems to be a mine field out there about who and what to believe.  For every person you come across saying 'this works', you'll find another who says 'no, it doesn't'.  You therefore risk damaging your vehicle if you inadvertently do the wrong thing.

I even looked in to brewing the fuel myself, but it just doesn't seem worth even going down that route.

Then there's the cost of the fuel, which no longer seems to be significantly cheaper than petrol or diesel.

If you're in the Radstock area of the South West, then there's a company called Biosulis that produces it's own biofuel from waste veg oil. The benefits this has is that it doesn't divert away from crop production and other environmental damage.

Warm wishes,
Dan
