Whats the answer - well we've all heard it before, myself included, but its selling through the room.  Why was I sceptical about 4N? Well simply because we need clients who have reception areas, boardrooms, training rooms, or who are Schools, Councils / NHS establishments.  Generally (although I'm sure there are some exceptions) 4N members dont fit this category. So you know what, I'm going to stop trying to sell to anyone in 4N and focus entirely on finding out who you all know. Whats the deal? well in return I can help by seeing if I know anyone useful in return. How does that sound...?

All I need to do now is make it into an interesting 40 second slot... :)

It takes a bit of a mindshift, doesn't it Jules?  I run parties selling ladies shoes and I find most 4N meeting are mainly men, so at first I thought it wasn't for my business.  But of course, every man there knows some women...I have had several booking directly from 4Ners just by asking them to ask the women that they know!

Yes, we certainly all know people that you may not expect us to know! Sell an idea to me and I may not need it myself (already have my own AV stuf at HFH), but you just never know who I might have a connection with.

Did you know, for instance, that I am currently conducting a review of corporate hospitality for a certain football league club? Part of that review may well extend into the provision of conference facilities. If it goes that far, I would certainly be in a position to get you an appointment. Of course, wthout 4N, how would you and I ever come into contact?

Get to know the people IN the room, enthuse the people IN the room, whether they need your services or not, and their contact base OUTSIDE the room will mysteriously open up to you when opportunities arise.

Lisa - I am not in Corsham, I do not have a telephone or email address and you may not under any circumstances speak to my fiance about shoes or send her any information!!!! :)

Louisa - be delighted to have a 1-1 at some point - I see your in Monmouthshire - I am going to the Forest of Dean group on 5 November to give a 4Sight that I havent yet written if you're about.

Gill - Alice doesnt have any "sensible" shoes and doesnt need any encouragement! The £600 python skin boots in Mallory's are not to be encouraged under any circumstances!

Karen - Unfortunately I already have a receptionist but would be delighted to have a 1-1 - I did offer you 2 slots this morning but you were already taken!!!

Steve - I've read about your fabulous breakfasts and will be getting down there sometime in November I hope.

Tim - I'm on the case with that, I missed Alistair tonight I'm afraid but will speak to him tomorrow as we have some work to do on a couple of the mini's. When I say we... I do not mean me - I have a purely supervisory role to play in car restoration...!!!

Just as well I don't live in Letchworth any more - I don't have room for any more shoes till we buy a new house!  Been outside the 30 mile radius for some years now, though I still have fond (!) memories of working in the bar at the Wilbury Beefeater many moons ago...

Jules, we met at 4N Wells and I must be honest that when I left I was still unsure of what your business was.

Never underestimate the value of the people in the room, you really don't know who they may know.

Just for an example; I am at an event (OK I was requested to attend) on Monday evening which has some of the real bigwigs in the financial industry there.

There are many people in 4N that have had a depth of experience before they became self employed in their current business.

Let everybody know who you are and what you're looking for in business and you'll be amazed and impressed what you'll find out!
