See, 'Greatest Olympian Ever' thing is winding me up. Of course it's an amazing achievement, but should we really think it was more impressive than, say, Carl Lewis?
After all, his medals are all within the swimming disciplines - I appreciate that there's a world of difference between freestyle and butterfly, but it ain't hardly the same as 200m and long jump (Lewis), for example.

Agreed. He is brilliant, his technique is awesome - but, you know, someone was going on about him being not just the best olympian but best athlete in history. Isn't he an aqualete? You can't really compare him to Lewis. And Redgrave getting gold at 5 Olympics is more impressive to me. In 10 years Phelps could be sat their with a pack of Doritos playing Olympics on his xbox, like me. If he's still winning golds then crank out the superlatives.

Personally I'm with Boris - you expect that someone with this kind of profile might actually be able to form a sentence as well. I appreciate that that's probably nt his forte, and that ability in a sporting discupline doesn't carry with it the guarantee of being a personable character, but this guy seems to be right at the opposite end of the scale!
Can't ever see him getting that post-career commentating job, can you?..........Maybe a summarizer...:-
(Commentator) "What did you think of that swim Mark?"
(Phelps) "YERRRRRRRR! AAAARRRRGGGH! Erm......erm......" (tails off)

We shouldn't underestimate the eating Doritos and playing the Olympics on Xbox. After all, I got round Torrey Pines 12 under par on Tiger Woods the other day.
Compared with the crappy scores at the PGA last weekend, there should be some sort of TV programme made about me.
However, none of this, or Phelps really matters, as we're all rooting for Paula. Erm, actually I'm not, she's a whining bottle merchant, and I hope she comes 4th.
