The trial by Daily Mail that is going on at the moment is a complete over-reaction now, I agree.
Still don't think he's funny though. But I understand some people find The Office hilarious. That's equally baffling to me.

Russel Brand and Jonathon Ross - On a radio station, prank called the actor from Fawlty Towers (i believe the lil waiter dude) after he failed to appear as a guest speaker. They slated him ect ect and it was released to public.
There's an investigation going on about the whole thing, and basicaly they are in trouble, but it has completely gone too far lol ...

The Office rocks - no doubt, i do believe that is the funniest thing ever, everytime i watch it something new comes out. I think it is so hilarious because of how cringeworthy it is lol!
I've never really had any thoughts on Russel Brand tbh, don't like or dislike him =/
