I know a few people who have done it and it does work.

a couple were offered roughly half to two thirds of what they where owed, another one however sent a letter back saying that he wanted all of it...and he got it!

Definitly worth doing....

I don't understand those who accept anything other than the full amount. I am sure there are a few cases where that money is needed right that minute but the amount who do accept can't all bit up the creek without a paddle.

Craig it does work as long as the process is followed correctly. have done it myself 4 times and am helping friends and family who still doubt it.

I have already sent my letter off to Lloyds TSB on behalf of the missus. I reckon she can expect about 2 grand.

It was actually on Watchdog last week so it is a real headache for the banks, bless their little cotton socks!

Did you know you may able to get a refund on your council tax going back to 1993 if your residence was put in the wrong band??? Inlaws were in wrong band by £175 per year - process started but should be over £2k coming back to them.

Shay, you're right on that. We recently got some money back from the house we were renting at so that was cool....

The maximum you can be charged for the past 6 years statements is £10 under the Data Protection Act.

the thing that makes me chuckle is people saying they've claimed back £100's and £1000's in bank charges, well that's the same as publicy saying I'm crap at running my bank account!!

Yes, it'd make you think twice wouldnt it....I've only got charged 3 times...but I've been good with my money as of late....my rule is "I always get what I want"....It's not that I'm spoilt or anything. I'm just a princess...in fact, I'd like to be called Princess Liz from now on :) Haha
