CHIT CHAT [Going back to school]

I may have made the dumbest decision of my entire life today.. I signed the admissions forms for community college and I'm going back to school, beginning in September.  *eeeeeeeeeek*

I'm paying for it by the course, and only going part time, so I only have two classes per semester and my tuition for the first semester is now sorted. *waves goodbye to savings*

*sigh*

Just got to the point where I decided that marketing may rox, but the office environment is definitely not for me.  I cut my hours to part time, I'm taking a pay cut, and I'm going to do what I love.  Screw this.

Art history, going to do freelance photography and possibly teach part time after college.  I'm stressed about the money it's going to cost, but I'm relieved and happy with my decision.

Life changing events peoples.. life changing disturbing events /trauma

Happy Holidays everyone :-)

Good for you.

Any money you have after the essentials (food, clothing and shelter) is worth nothing if what you've done to get it is tedious.

There's always a way out, and a solution to money problems. It shouldn't rule your life, yadda yadda.

Helena,
My daughter went back to college, is now in her 2nd year now and has decided to go on to do a degree. Holly was unhappy in her work environment although like you she liked what she did, As a student she has struggled a bit with money but has managed (and as she says reluctantly "it's been another good lesson"). Holly has never looked back, she has been ignited by the stimulation of opening her mind up and learning to think, quantum physics here she comes.

Good luck x

Where many people take the jump into being self employed sounds like you are doing the same. Best of Luck!

The chances of the decision being dumb are minimal. You only have one life so do something that makes you happy.

I'd love to do that. Maybe in another 10 years or so. Well played.

Is it handsome in here, or is it just me?

Thanks for the kind words everyone... I have been thinking about it for quite awhile but it didn't really galvanize me to do anything about it until I was shoved back into the 50hr a week workforce. It's too petty and too claustrophobic. I mean honestly, when you get memos about allotted office refridgerator space you have to sit and wonder wtf you are doing. How do people live like that? I couldn't.

Hey Michael, have you registered at ephotozine? I saw some of your work on your site, but like I said above, marketing rox. And even though 4n is a great tool, it's not the only avenue to pursue for business. They've got loads of pros on there and I'm learning new stuff everyday. Getting featured on there would look good on your cv :-)

Anyway, not really trying to sell you on them, I just think it's a great site for amateur photographers who want to learn and share with other pros and amateurs alike. I have a canon xti 10mp in the mail from amazon w0000000000t!!!!! it should be here by the weekend. I've been checking the mail everyday hahaha. It'll be a nice step up from my powershot, and I'm in the market for a 35mm for the coursework that's going to begin in September. I'm really looking forward to learning the darkroom stuffies..

(fear mi taking snuff pictars ohnoes! hehehe)

Happy Holidays everyone :-)
