today we sent out 3 requests for a quote for some particular type of work we need doing. Not that we were expecting a quote by return, just a thanks for the request, we are on to it sort of answer would be fine. Nothing at all received, from any of them.

I don't know much about marketing, but one thing I do know is if you have a read hot lead to buy your stuff you are onto it like a terrier or they go elsewhere.

No Sue its not you,  either a hiccup or they are bone idle and do not care about the business,

When leads come my way I am there faster than a bolt of lightening Lol!!!

It's weird how often this happens!  Similar to those people in shops who make you feel you're intruding when you try to buy something. 

Must be lovely to have a business that's so inundated with work you can afford to ignore potential customers!

It may be that they're not in the office for a period of time and not able to respond to your email.  I don't have an administrator and I don't have a blackberry so I am not always in a position to respond to my emails quickly.  It's certainly reasonable, that due to customer commitments that it could be a couple of days before I respond.  Though you have given me an idea in relation because of that!

I think if you know you are dealing with one person in a business then you accept they may not be around all of the time. With these 3 though they all have staff, work in business units and offer a speedy service, so I sort of thought it would be speedy! Communication is everything even if it is ' I am snowed under, will be out on Tuesday!'.

could they not just use the out of office attendent with a message sayin, 'we are unavailable now but will get back asap' At least that way you know your email got through, especially if you are not there all the time!

Customer service in this country is awful.

4Ner's are no better or worse than businesses as a whole of a similar size but what a difference it makes if you get good service.

I have had some appalling service from 4N people but look who is prospering on 4N, it is those giving the quality of service.

To me it is basic common sense to chase down business opportunities at any time. As state above t takes seconds to acknowledge an email but never promise what you can't deliver. Be honest.

In today's environment there are less chances (certainly for me) so I'm like a rat up a drainpipe with any opportunity I get.

Sue, it's just a shame you don't need a bus load of Poles!!!!!!!

I frequently roast my reception staff when I see that an e-mail enquiry has gone unanswered for a couple of hours. People who submit contact forms for hotel rooms rarely wait longer than that before booking somewhere else.

Can't resist this story from yesterday.

Context - I had bugger all else to do, enquiries are right down.

Contact from a local company - can you help us get 4 welders.

After discussion it turns out they needed 2 x fabricators + 2 x welders for an international contract.

Train in the UK for about a month them 6 months on site.

Sorted, the 2 welders should arrive on the 20th.

Guess where the international contract is..................
