I really really want a gorgeous 3G iPhone.

Of course I don't really need an iPhone but I really want one.  It's amazing how before iPhone was available it never occurred to me to want such as thing, I had no concept of it.

I've promised myself I can have an iPhone as a reward for getting out and launching my new business, The Glass Slipper Effect, with gusto.

I used to forget to reward myself and end up feeling a bit low so realised how important rewarding ourselves is to keeping motivation high?

How do you reward yourself?  What's your big treat for your efforts in 2008?

Connecting up with people is a brilliant energy boost for me too. Definitely one of the best things about 4N is the opportunity to do that so easily.

For me it isn't a 'thing' that I reward myself with, I hate 'stuff', its more the time to experience something.  This year, after a pretty intense project the reward was sitting on a craggy point in Mumbles, Wales listening to the sea, watching a storm rising and just feeling all of that.  No clocks, no phones, no computers.  It was my cadburys flake moment!!  It restored me.

That sounds like bliss Karen.  I often think I'd love to get away and then I procrastinate about booking it.  Do you book so that you've got something to look forward to or just decide once you're ready to go?

It was a spur of the moment thing, tacked onto the end of a business visit.  If I booked too far in advanced I would almost certainly talk myself out of it and find a 'compelling' business reason to stay in the office.  I  have booked and not actually gone on three holidays so far.  But making a day or twos space isn't that hard, so I did.

I sing!

My one 'must do' treat  for the week is choir rehearsal. I'm sure singing must release endorphins or something. Get a real buzz from it.

I'm sure everyone gets a buzz too Gill 'cos you have a great singing voice, do you remember that Edinborough 'Posh' Restaurant back in 2001.  Everyone was wowed when you sang!

I do remember the restaurant. I think it was One Devonshire Gardens? But I can't remember singing!! Must have been plastered. Or trying to empty the place.

Claire - get a 3G iPhone! I LOVE mine!

I reward myself probably not enough to be honest....I love escaping to the sea when I can, which is especially important seeing as Birmingham is one of the most land-locked places in the UK!

taking the children (8, 3 & 1) to Lyme Regis after school a couple of Fridays ago was wonderful - beautiful sunny, warm afternoon and evening - we played on the beach, walked along the front and generally mooched about for 3-4 hours - fantastic :-)

i-phone...maybe not although they look fab, XDA Ignito for me - i'm not a gadget freak by phones are the exception www.xda.o2.co.uk/devices/xda_ignito.jsp

oh, yes and watching Luton - at least once a month away from home

Short term rewards are time spent with my daughter. She lives with me, but spends alternate weekends with her mum, so 'our' weekend is always chill time. Friday is dvd and nibbles night, Saturday week cook together, and Sunday I do a big Sunday lunch. Love it.

Long term may just take a little longer. My pride & joy used to be a Ferrari 308GTB (boys & their toys eh?) until some idiot managed to mount the kerb and total it while it was on my drive.

I now have a picture directly above my desk of another one I almost bought (but wasn't the right time) with the words; "Don't just dream it. Do it!" written next to it. Bit materialistic I know, and the short term rewards / work life balance etc are far more important, but when I'm working into the early hours, it's good to look at it occasionally for a bit of motivation.

Chocolate- Needless to say I find an excuse to reward myself every day! ;0)

Cant beat making time to spend time with friends and loved ones. My mums not well but today was great because she made it over to see me, great weather and nice walk along the sea front. I do love to live beside the sea side- I feel a song coming on, ...
