I still have a filofax that I've had for years although generally use outlook. I am thinking about getting an iphone or some other electronic device to carry around.
There is something about writing things down for me because when I write an action down on paper I definitely do it.
What's your experience with these thing? Anyone use both?

I did carry round not a Filofax (though I love them) but a day-to-a-page diary for a long time - but found that it was so big and bulky I tended to leave it at home when I was nipping out to the shops or somewhere - and would then invariably meet someone and need to know when I was free to make an appointment!
I've got a PDA phone now which is smaller (marginally - it's an old one!) and has all the info, and I always have it on me. I've been looking at new diaries again though .. you're right, there is something about writing it all down and seeing what's happening there in black and white!
Best wishes,
Alison

I used to be a FiloFax user, and I have the same problem that I needed to make written notes to remember to do things. I don't use my FiloFax any more though.
I have a PDA now that integrates with my Outlook, mail, contacts, diary, to-do list etc. and I can write on my PDA. It's great as I always have my latest emails, appointments and contacts with me where ever I go. I'm not sure if the iPhone integrates well with Outlook/Exchange though.
My PDA also works with Microsoft One Note
One Note is absolutely brilliant and I couldn't function without it.
It's like an electronic FiloFax, but on steroids.
You can use the PDA to take a photo of a business card and One Note can even convert it to text which makes it easy for updating your contacts!
Works brilliantly with a tablet PC too, which I use in meetings
The Tablet PC can even records the meetings for you.
When you play back the recording One Note even highlights the written notes for you as they were written down so you know exactly why you wrote them!

I have used a slimline version (that fits in a handbag) for the last couple of years but have just bought a soft green A5 filofax for 'someone' to give me for Christmas. I love the smell of the leather and filling in all the info and as Claire said..writing down actions. Still like the electronic gadgets though if anyone wants to get me those as well!

I had a filofax for years but now use a lovely desk diary with a week to view, Daryl uses outlook and all appointments go into both and then sync to my phones, but anyone who knows me will know that I always confirm appointments when in front of the paper version! Old habits die hard they say!

You can always print off your outlook files and calendar in filofax format and page size and have both.
I think as iphone is mac based it does not out of the box sync with outlook without some additional bits (open to clarification here) so if it is outlook integration that is a priority, look for windows mobile phone, blackberry, or nokia e71.
Here is a link ref outlook integration

Personally, I moved away from my Time Manager (filofax thingy) since having it stolen from a car in France years ago. Everything disappeared with the Time Manager and I still get christmas cards from people saying I never write. Do they include their address? No!
I use an HP Ipaq 114 that syncs with Outlook and MS Office. Everything is in two places for security and automatically updates the other version. It has WiFi too, so I can send receive emails everywhere that I can get a signal.
I've also got an Asus Eee, which I use for creating stuff. But the Ipaq goes everywhere with me. Even has text recognition, so you can still write things down to remember them!
So do I use paper? No. Fundamental point - only have one list for anything
