  1. Answer the question, and follow the instructions or the query of the main question not the follow on conversation.
  2. Contact the person direct. Brad is right ... Pick up the phone or email direct, direct contact wins business.
  3. If they want price indication, give it to them.
  4. Contact them in a weeks time to check that all is progressing, you have answered the question and that their is nothing more that you can do.

I agree.  The way to get business is to contact the people off line, preferably by phone, or at the very least email if that is possible.

And people appreciate that - it shows a bit more effort.  By all means post in response to the thread, but the extra contact is the bit that may get you the business!

In addition, on a number of occasions, picking up the phone to offer advice, (yes, free advice!) enables you to be more helpful than may be possible in a post.

Keep posting folks - but also phone!
