Linked in is a new thing in my eyes - but obviously I can see it's been around a while now! Can anyone tell me what they have benefited from by joining?

We use it extensively for both business leads and candidates. There are a number of people who try to connect to everyone, but if you ignore them it is good.
The premise of it is very good to get introduced to other people through your network. You just need to be selective with it.

The group facility is quite useful, especially for a content business like mine. I often post news stories on relevant groups which get seen by a handful of users.
Other than that, it's similar to 4N but broader and therefore probably less useful.

Like Dan,I've found it more useful once I began to join relevant groups and participate in some of the discussions.A number of people have joined my mailing list through this route.
If you do a blog as well it can now automatically appear on LinkedIn which is quite a good new feature.

I'd certainly say be selective with who you connect with. Some of those who have tried to connect with me are of no relevance or interest to me or my business.

Thank you all.
I have joined Linked In now and aim to complete my profile etc over the weekend.
I agree with that you say about contacts etc. There are people in industries who I'd like to make contact with so I'm going to think carefully on how to introduce myself without sounding stupid!

I find it great for building connecting within my own business sector.
From a personal point of view I still maintain that having two 4N LinkedIn groups using identical logos looks unprofessional unless they are specified by area or some other fundamental factor! Any thoughts?
