Yeah, but my business is pretty local and there is only one breakfast that is in my area. When news ones start in the area I will probably upgrade my efforts!

Surely Shoes Galore will travel though? I used to restrict myself to Faringdon because my magazine was SO local that it didn't benefit at all from being promoted further afield. One of the reasons behind starting The Proof Fairy was I wanted a business that I could travel with, so I could fully take advantage of the 4Networking network. Childcare means that I still can't make it further than half an hour from home but that does mean I can get to more meetings and so far it's working well.
So within half an hour of you you've got Ware, Welwyn garden City and Hatfield as well as Letchworth .... potential customers at all of those!
Best wishes,
Alison

Yes, in theory Alison. In practice if I go too far for an event, then my costs get prohibitive - if I have to order shoes in for people, then I have to deliver them as well as the travel costs initially. If someone from an event 40 miles away books a party, they may well live another 10 miles on. Then their friend books an event another 10 miles on...etc etc.
The margins aren't enough to justify covering too far from home, unless it was a big event. I will travel 30 miles from Letchworth and at the moment I am still building business in my immediate area. Next year - the whole of Hetrfordshire will be mine! (cue evil laugh)

Love it, its that flexibility to drop in and drop out based n your work/family comittments which i believe is key. Equally important, i think is to go 3-4 a week in the first month of memership to saturate yourself rapidly into the culture and commmunity, then slow it down beyond that if need be.

Hi Brad - I started with 3 but now am dropping to 2 - while Newbury is central and there seem to be lots of nice groups nearby I do find it a killer going further afield to Cheltenham and High Wycombe (although I've met useful contacts at both!)
