How are we coping? In my case, it's by recruiting. I've taken on a new apprentice from Monday to help me cope in the Telford office.

I've found that the best way forward is to just go for it. My clients are feeling the pinch, and there's no doubt things are tough out there, but my business has grown by 82% since I joined 4N in March.

The only thing I'm doing differently is to increase the networking (as area leader, I now attend at least 4 meetings a fornight). I know it wont apply to every business,  but for us, a positive mental attitude (rather than panic tactics) has reaped dividends.

Rather than the wrong signals sent out by reducing prices, ours have increased slightly, and we make sure the quality of service matches the fees paid.

Hopefully, as things improve, these actions will put us in an ideal position to service the newly emerging market place. Bring it on!

Unsure as of yet, have had to put some serious thought (again) into whether I need to give it all up for a fulltime job.

I agree Alan.

I heard the Chief Economist from HSBC talk last week.

While he admitted that he didn't know how bad things were going to be, he did say that the more people who THOUGHT it was going to be bad, the longer and deeper the recession would be.

I've thought since the summer that we were in danger of 'talking ourselves' into economic downfall. The media started it, and now it's happened.

With some trepidation I've bitten the bullet and started up on my own. My overheads are low (ish) and I believe that making a go of it in recession is a strong foundation for when the dust settles.

Fortunately for me my sales are increasing, Companies are now beginning to realise how important it is to Credit Check before you do business with another Company, especially in the Start-Up and SME domain.

if only I had listened to you a few months back Diane I could have saved myself £000's lol.

Credit checking is now more important to us. All underpinned by more activity.
