BUSINESS 4NETWORKING [What's going to be hot on the web in 2009?] |

Will FaceBook still be king? Or is there something better waiting to take it's place?
Will microblogging and Twitter really come into it's own?
What will happen to how we communicate with each other?
Will we start to see convergence between E-mail, SMS, Twitters etc etc etc.
Just interested to know if anyone has got any thoughts? I reckon the Internet will change massively next year, and our relationship with it. I think more people will start to 'get' social online networking as a business tool much more so than they are now.

Don't forget Facebook is also quite a good "social networking" tool and doesnt always have to be about business! Its in the 4N script somewhere about 50% social 50% business....
Although I also agree with Steve, I often wish there was more verbal communication.

I talk to people all the time and the lovely thing about the web is I talk to people I otherwise wouldn't have met.
The web doesn't replace social interaction, it enhances it.
Without registering on here for example, I would never have met any of the people on here.
And my point about FaceBook and social networking generally is that they can be as useful in business as they are just for social purposes, just as a breakfast get together has been adopted for business purposes. I'm with Pash's post on this one, but you also occasionally talk to your friends about business right? Online relationships are no different.

I'm backing the internet to be my primary business tool next year.
Why?
If people find your product/service through the internet you are 75% on the way to a sale.
It is relatively inexpensive and once I get the hang of all the available tools it is a cracking way to communicate at a busines level.
In the last 2 months
Direct marketing has brought me - nothing, possibly market conditions
Telemarketing has brought me - nothing, possibly market conditions
E mail marketing, which supports the brand, has yielded - nothing, jury out - experimentation taking place.
Chasing existing clients/hot prospects - a dribble, but very valuable as conversion is easy
Internet - with an immature site - a dribble. Lower volume, but better conversion
Networking - always difficult to pigeon hole and timing is erratic - one piece of business and one chance to quote.

I reckon you're right for your business Chris.
Keep up the E-mail campaign. It's the most cost effective way of keeping your name in front of all your contacts.
Make sure you're there online everywhere potential clients/employers will be.
You won't get the hang of all the tools, 'cos they'll keep introducing new ones! Just keep doing what you can and letting people know about your offering.

Well I'd love to say LaunchLab...but facebook's becoming a bit tired for me.
I think it's all part of a slight social networking malaise I'm going through.
I've signed up to the lot and yet, despite this forum being a secondary business for 4N, i keep coming back here.
That said I'm loving Twitter (danmatthews55 - if you fancy following), and I'm enjoying MySpace much more becuase a) I don't use it for business and b) there's so much to do and see!

We're about to launch an online micro forum. Backed up by an email campaign. It'll be the first form of marketing the company has done in it's ten years. That's if you don't count me phoning thousands of prospects.
I'm looking forward to seeing how it works.

Anyone want to buy some Richard Denny books? I got a warehouse full. It's smarter to Barter.

I am going to confirm Karen's rather coy post. With further coyness. Watch this space. You heard about it first here. And this is not, for once a wind up, but a serious commercial venture.
