Hi folks,
I know I launched my new site in here a few weeks ago now, but yesterday I spent a bit of time doing some essential SEO work on it, metatags and descriptions and altering content to help with that etc....
If anyone could have a gander and see if I've missed anything vital, it'd be very much appreciated.....

Thanks guys

can be used to create the SEO metatags.
Or this one that creates even more meta tags
Meta tags should be different for each page and relevant to the page

That's very weird, I'd gone through every page in Joomla adding all the keywords/metatags and descriptions in for each page in the relevant boxes......they're different on each as you say....
Will have to look into that....thanks for the heads up... :o)

Anyone a Joomla guru that could explain the above from Chris Hatch?
Have gone through my Joomla back office looking at all the Meta info, and all seems to be in there correctly....am I doing something wrong?

Meta descriptions and keywords aren't as important as they used to be, especially not in google. If google doesn't see a description, in most cases it will make one up from your on-page content, e.g.:

I wouldn't worry about meta descriptions and keywords too much, there are more important things to focus your efforts on.
If you have the time (after doing the other important stuff!) and you really want to fix it, perhaps your site isn't picking up the meta keywords and descriptions because of your template?

I have to say, not having a meta description is a risk for the sake of one minute saved. Google assesses the line up of relevance of the description, the page title, the H1 tag and the content.
