I am no expert! However, I like McAfee, because it does what I want it to do, and doesn't do what I don't want it to do! And I find it minimally intrusive.
I recently bought a new laptop and inherited 3 months of Norton Antivirus with it.I couldn't wait for it to run out, so could install McAfee again. It was so intrusive that I began to think of it as a Norton marketing campaign rather than a useful tool! However, I remember the pop-ups for all the wrong reasons.

I agree AVG, but go for the full paid for version including firewall.

Yes I use AVG, but have massive problems with the firewall being too strict - if someone can help me with that it would be fantastic

Lisa, It is me (again) but I do have an excellent virus protector and I swear by it. My IT client told me to use it and she is right. It is called ESET Smart Security. Unlike Norton and some of the others it does not take up all your computers ram. Norton can slow down your computer something cronic. While Norton will catch 96% of virus ESET claims only to catch 93% however the difference in speed is worth it and it is not badly priced. Chat again soon

We don't use any form of virus protection whatsoever as we use Mac's

Are Mac’s immune from all forms of viruses?

It is rare to be a recipient of a virus on a Mac but things are changing......There are now viruses out there targeting Mac users so I would always recommend some form of virus protection.
You can't put a price on peace of mind !

I am a big beliver in AVG, unitl I heard of Avast! www.avast.com.
It is supposed to be a lot better fthan AVG (from a very good, knowledgablke and successful IT consutant I know) and it si much smaller in file size than AVG. I didn't want to believe it myself at first as I have AVG Business (paid for) but it's great!
Have a go! :)
