It may have been asked before.......but which search engine does everyone use?

I always use Google, and assumed that everyone else did!

We concentrate all our advertising on Google and pay for the adwords, it seems to work well for us. However, I spoke to a friend and she only ever uses Yahoo.

Which got me thinking should we be spreading our advertising over a few more SE's and not just rely on Google?

I always use Google - used to use Yahoo and sometimes Ask Jeeves many moons ago, but it's Google all the way these days!

I woudnt worry to much about which search engine you use as most websites are listed in several search engines just different positins (you could be number 1 with google but 3 with yahoo etc).

I believe that Google is the most popular these days but that could change in the future.

If your doing well with Google stick with and save your dosh.

hope that helps.

Currently, google have just over 81% share of all search engine searches in the UK.  Which kind of answers your question.

In addition, that market share has marginally improved over the last 12 months, and appears still to be climbing.

Depending on who you ask, Yahoo are the next with between 4% and 5%

It does, therefore make a bit of sense to be aware of them when planning your marketing.  But remember, 100% of web searches of all kinds are made by web users.  Focus on them even more!

Not sure a search engine has ever stayed at a bed and breakfast ... you need to make sure your website is useful, relevent and compelling for your target audience, get it right and you will be successful with the search engines.  Focussing on the search engine is kind of missing the point.

Thanks everyone. Hubby is the computer whizz in our house and he does all the website stuff - SE's, adwords, metatags and other words I dont quite understand!

Sounds like we are wise to stick with Google then. We've been paying roughly £50 per month for the adwords, and through the summer seemed to be getting the vast majority of our business with Google. However, like everything else at the moment, trade has really slowed down. But Im taking it as a good excuse to have a bit of a break and get my Christmas shopping done!

Please don't use adwords (or anyone else's pay-per-click). I used to spend over £2k per month, then discovered SEO through Elizabeth Walsh...

She's since done another website for me and I am top or high on page one for all my search terms. PPC might seem sensible but it's money down the drain...

I recommend her wherever I can. She speaks in English and will discuss her thoughts with you free of charge!

Good Luck

If anyone says they can do SEO, I suggest you 'Google' web designer and where they live/ work. If they're not on page one then ask yourself if they're any good. Try web designer monmouth. LIz's business 'websites-for-women.co.uk' is one page one. Look at my results too. Try 'property renovation hereford' or 'architectural plans monmouth'. I'm number one all over, and my site went live about five/six weeks ago!!

Truly can't recommend her highly enough!

Good Luck
