Hi I'm doing some work for a client and I am good with basic excel and basic 'sum' formulas. But I want a spreadsheet to work out different percentages based on another field. Example of what I am on about: Column A lists a supplier name Column B lists the type of supplier (ie radio, TV, magazine) Column C-N are the months of the year and in C2 to N2, C3 to N3 etc are figures to be spent
So the spreadsheet shows how much is spent on each publication throughout the year. All of the above is laid out already. I then want to show the cost of that advertising. The cost is worked out as a percentage of the spend.
The percentage is different, based on the type of supplier (ie cost of radio is less than cost of magazine). To write it long hand, I want the ss to calculate this (as an example): In 'whatever cell I choose', show me: C2 *(0.85 if B2 says radio or 0.90 if B2 says magazine) Does that make any sense at all? This would really help if anyone knows...

V lookup is what you need Pash - I could work it out for you if you send it to me, but Julian could probably do it sooner (and easier than I from what Stef says).

Julian you have mail. Brad fixed the formatting of my original post as opposed to the question if that makes sense.
Thanks everyone for your assitance.
