I'm persuading a client to use a photographer to takes some photos but at the moment, they want me to come up with examples of images for their website. Just wondered where people shop for stock images. I always used 123rf.co.uk in the past...

I use istock.com for the magazine - I can normally find what I want and it's not expensive either.
Best wishes,
Alison

I'm glad that you value bespoke images for your client, stock photographs are rarely how you visualise your concept and can lead to a compromise. I am sure you are aware that commisioned photography is not necessarily the most expensive option when choosing your images and most photographers will always try to work with you regarding cost.
Having said that I am not against stock images ‘per se’ and here are a few more sites to add to your collection:

Hope that photographer is me Liz... I might sulk if its not!
Seriously, some stock images are great, but used in the wrong way they can have a negative effect on a business. I've quite often clicked away from a website because they're using generic (normally american) stock images.
I think Brad sums it up quite well here...

Istock = $1 for smallest size. = c67p by the time your credit card company has converted to £
Fotolia = 60p. I find it just as good as Istock and faster loading.
