It's good to see some pro active email marketing from some of the 4N groups promoting forthcoming meetings/4 Sight Speakers and so on. As someone who had visited loads of groups this year what I'm finding is I get a lot of these emails. Not all of them have an unsubscribe link which is in fact a legal requirement. Any chance you guys can include an unsubscribe link clearly at the foot of each email?  I get all my group updates from my 4N RSS feed.

If you're using an email service provider such as Constant Contact or AWeber they insert this automatically. If you're using your email program do one of the following...
(1) Insert a hyperlink (see below) or
(2) Insert the words "To unsubscribe from future mailings about 4N Anytown please reply with the word UNSUBSCRIBE in the subject line".

To insert a hyperlink in Outlook do this...
Enter > mailto:fredbloggs@acmewidgets.co.uk?Subject=Unsubscribe
Then in the box called Text to Display" enter "Click here to unsubscribe".
(Obviously replace fredbloggs@ with your own address).

Finally, make sure you use the bcc function to mask recipients' email addresses. Do not put them all in the To box.  It's a breach of privacy as this thread explains (see post #4).

(Sorry to go off on one!).

Good call Julian - one which I think we have to be increasingly careful of now as the network grows!

perhaps managment of subscribed/unsubscribed could be via your profile, then you would only have to do it once even if you go to several groups?  It may already be, but managing mailing lists from profiles seems sensible.

Sorry if that wasn't appropriate ... i'm not really that up on forum ettiquette!
