ANASSUTZI & Co LIMITED was set up in 2009 by Dr Maria Anassutzi, with the aim to help entrepreneurs, companies and legal departments in the most timely and cost-effective manner by providing good legal consulting from your perspective.

Maria has vast experience in general corporate commercial law, specialising in intellectual property, information technology, e-commerce and outsourcing and having extensive in-house legal experience having worked for several years at Vodafone Group and also in City firms such as DLA and Osborne Clarke. Her clients include both suppliers and users of technology, Universities, inventors, food manufacturers, logistics companies, telecom companies and businesses in the retail industry. She speaks English, Italian and Greek fluently and has some knowledge of French and Japanese.

About Maria Anassutzi

Maria is founder and director of Anassutzi & Co limited having previously held a number of senior positions both with City law firms and multinational companies such as Vodafone Group. Maria is an English qualified solicitor and holds a first class law degree from the University of Rome (Doctor Juris) and a Master’s degree (LLM) in International Commercial law from the University of Canterbury in Kent and more recently she gained a diploma in Business Administration from Oxford College. Maria speaks fluently Greek, Italian and has basic knowledge of the French language. 

Maria is passionate about supporting her clients and translating their vision in contracts that speak their language and instilling confidence in her clients to actively participate in legal matters. She is a seasoned multi-jurisdictional lawyer with vast experience in general corporate commercial law, specialising in intellectual property, information technology, e-commerce and outsourcing. Her clients include both suppliers and users of technology, Universities, inventors, food manufacturers, logistics companies, telecom companies and businesses in the retail industry.

In particular, Maria advises in relation to protection, exploitation and acquisition of intellectual property, including hardware procurement agreements, software development and licensing, disaster recovery, business continuity, hosting, support and maintenance agreements; complex licensing and know-how transfer arrangements, research and development agreements and assignment of intellectual property; outsourcing and facilities management,   general e-commerce issues, including advertising and marketing, broadcasting and media related issues including user-generated content, digital rights management issues.

She enjoys business development and meeting and helping people and businesses. She is a marketing associate of the Business & IP Centre of the British Library, a member of the Thames Valley Chamber of Commerce, a member of the Womens Business Clubs, a member of the ideas 21 inventors association and a mentor to law students with the College of Law. Maria also works closely with various Business Link organisations and their clients offering pro-bono one to one IP clinics and other legal support to start-up companies.

Maria has co-authored “A Practical Guide to E-commerce and Internet Law” book  published by ICSA and has contributed to the “International Supply Contracts”  book published by Sweet & Maxwell. She has also contributed numerous legal articles to ICLR published by Sweet & Maxwell and more recently has published a number of articles in the London Chamber of Commerce and Industry newspaper. Maria regularly presents to seminars and workshop on intellectual property and information technology related issues. She has advised clients on intellectual property management and conducted in-house training on confidentiality, intellectual property and other related issues to senior management and board members.
