“Without work, all life goes rotten. But when work is soulless, life stifles and dies”. – Albert Camus
We invest so much of our time earning a living to provide for ourselves and those we care about. Don't we owe it to ourselves and others to maximise the return on that investment and achieve the ambitions we have for ourselves, our businesses and families?
What is a Change Agent?
Change: “an act or process through which something becomes different”
But change can be uncomfortable. It hurts. It forces you to confront things about yourself that you would really rather not think about - especially when change centres on what we do for work and how we do it. Our identities become so bound up with our work that any change can go to the heart of who we are and how we see ourselves.
The Change Agent brings fresh perspective, experience and energy to a situation enabling an individual or team to:
Agent: “a person or thing that takes an active role or produces a specified effect”
Some coaches and mentors tell you what to do and hold you accountable for doing it, others through careful questioning help you explore what you want to do and help you find your path. As a change agent, I provide a unique mixture of both approaches so that you can:
As the change agent, I provide you with a unique and powerful mix of coaching and mentoring to help you get most out of your working life. I enable you to discover new possibilities and fresh perspective. You reconnect with your values and motivations. You liberate yourself from any limitations in your thinking, behaviours and beliefs which are preventing you from maximising the rewards of your working life. In short, you gain the “3 Cs” of :
Who you are: values and motivations, aspirations, capabilities and personal qualities, strengths and talents
Where you are going: your life and work ambitions, career direction and planning
How you are going to get there; plans that will work for you, your values and strengths
To define success on YOUR terms and no one else’s
To hold on to your values
To shape a career or business model that is right for you
To things differently to achieve your goals
Develop the drive and resilience to see things through when it gets tough
Learn from the results of your actions and keep developing your skills and knowledge with that clear focus on the end goal.
Staying accountable through our relationship to keep you on track and celebrate your successes
In addition to my skills and personal experience, clients benefit from:
I have lived through challenging times in a variety of organisational cultures and had a wide range of work roles – good, bad and (sometimes) ugly – so, the chances are that whatever you’re going through, I've been there (and probably more than once!). Shifting from corporate life to starting a business from scratch was no walk in the park either! My clients reflect my journey through working life; young professionals, seasoned executives, mid-life career changers, start-up entrepreneurs and owners of maturing businesses. They come from a variety of industries and backgrounds but we all share an energy, the desire to make a difference and a great sense of humour.
Whilst the financial results are not instant, my clients leave my sessions energised and motivated as a result of getting clear on their situation and goals. They feel able to develop new strategies and behaviours and overcome indecision and inaction to pursue their business goals.
One session was all it took for a start-up client to resolve his dilemma over his niche. By connecting him to his own interests and values he could settle on a target market. With his niche identified, he knew which of 4 versions of the draft logo to approve at the printers, the products to target at an upcoming trade show, and how to pitch his business at networking meetings that week.
A scale-up entrepreneur was so emotionally involved in his business and in its day to day operations that his plans to build the business had stalled. With my support, he is learning to stand back and put procedures and policies in place to support the team with a clear structure to work to. That way, he has the time and energy to develop a leadership role and promote the business and the team are prepared to meet the demands of a growing business.
Attendees at my “working on purpose” workshop were all asked to identify a habit they could implement immediately to help them work more effectively. One attendee saved 2 hours a day as a result of practising her new habit. Another now feels motivated and able to talk to the right people who love doing tasks she would rather not do so she can concentrate on her core skills.
I love to work with people who have energy, a sense of personal responsibility, keen to make a difference but don't take themselves too seriously. I enjoy putting people together and helping others wherever I can.
I am a runner so I love my new home of Bournemouth which has so many great running routes. Just as well I like running as there are so many great places to eat in the area!
My other interests include running a small rental property portfolio, investing in an events venue in Worcestershire and a Hampshire vineyard. In quieter moments I enjoy crocheting and watching the sun set over the seafront on a daily walk.
