I personally work with companies to develop their management systems to meet the requirements for ISO9001 and ISO14001 certification. I look at what systems the company already has in place and then build a management system round what is available. When the company has operated with these systems for a minimum of 4 weeks I carry out a set of internal audits and hold the first management review with the senior management. If and when the company is judged to be ready for certification I arrange for a UKAS certified company to carry out an external assessment which results in certification to one or both of these standards, once the company has achieved ISO certification my team continues to provide internal auditing and management review support to the company as well as attending their annual surveillance visits to represent them at the quality and/or environmental external reviews.
I also provide a trouble shooting services to companies that have been certified to these standards and need help to get the systems back on stream to meet the requirements of the standards; particularly where they can't provide the staff to do the internal audits and management reviews themselves.
I have recently extended the services my business offers to include ISO27001, the information security standard; for which I have taken on a new team member, who is experienced in helping companies meet the requirements of the information security standard and is particularly keen to work with companies who store customer's data on their CRM systems. He has recently helped companies in the IT and construction sectors.
My.clients include warehousing, printing, several engineering companies, 4 manufacturing companies including a polyurethane products manufacturer, a lift safety equipment manufacturerer, a steel roofing products fabricator and a scientific equipment producer.and software development companies, One of my latest client to achieve ISO9001 accreditation is a company based in Malvern who provide bespoke communication systems for the severely disabled. Their major customer, the NHS, had threatened to remove them from the approved supplier list unless they achieved ISO9001 accreditation with a UKAS registered company. I have also recently helped a large electrical contractor based in Telford achieve ISO9001 certification.
in 2015 updated versions of ISO9001 and ISO14001 were issued and as a result of this all companies with ISO9001 and 14001 certification have to update their management systems by September 2018. I am working with all my existing clients to achieve the revised certification. I can also work with new clients who are seeking help to achieve the revised ceritification.
It usually takes between 3 and 7 working days to build on the existing management procedures in preparation for certification. The vast majority of the companies I am currently working with have between 1 and 15 employees and several of them are family owned businesses.
I have helped 2 manufacturing companies to gain CE Marking approval for their products as an additional service to helping them gain ISO9001 certification..
A recent addition to my consultancy is HR support. The consultant has 25+ years experience in HR with large corporate companies and has set up his company to provide advice and support to SME businesses.
I am a graduate metallurgical engineer from Imperial College London where I also did a PhD in Metallurgy. After my PhD I did a post doctoral fellowship in metallurgical research at Strathclyde University Glasgow. My first industrial employment was with British Ropes in Doncaster where I was special projects technologist. After 4 1/2 years I moved to Cowley Oxford to be the Works Metallurgist at the British Leyland car body plant. From there after 21 months I moved to Worcester to work for Morganite Crucible. I held several Management roles whilst employed by Morganite Crucible. These included Technical Manager, Technical Applications Manager, Quality Manager and finally Qualty and Environmental Manager. I was made redundant in July 2003 when the company decided to outsource Quality and Health & Safety Management services.
I decided to set my business up as a Quality and Environmental Management Consultant within a week of being made redundant and for the first 6 months worked for a client who needed ISO9001 and ISO 14001 accreditation to maintain his Tier 1 status as a supplier to Ford and Jaguar Landrover. I have been in business for over 13 years and during that time formed links with 2associates, one of whom is responsible for helping new clients to get ISO14001 certification and the other provides assistance for companies with any Health & Safety issues including assistance for ISO18001/45001. I am married with 2 grown up daughters and I spend most of my spare time playing golf, walking or gardening.
I particularly like working with engineering and manufacturing companies who are expanding their businesses and are expanding their customer base to larger companies who expect their suppliers to have robust management systems in place,
