I started my working career with GEC as an anaylst programmer having studied with them for an HND in Electronics and Communications Engineering. Over the years I have had a number of programming jobs, interrupted by house moves and the birth of my 2 children. As life became slightly less hectic, around the time my children were starting secondary education, the desire to return to the art that I used to enjoy as a teenager emerged. Having always opted for painting/drawing people, my family became the perfect subject.
Painting can be quite addictive and it wasn't too long before I decided portraits would be an enjoyable way to bring in some extra cash. I was working part time as a web programmer, so I had the knowledge to set up a website and started to advertise my work. I also decided to try animal/pet portraits and found that they were as popular as the human ones. When the web company went into liquidation, I decided the portraits were where my heart really lay so, instead of trying to find another programming job, I have concentrated on the art - I'd much rather be in front of an easel than a computer screen. I'm very fortunate to be able to do a job that I really enjoy.
Following the death of Molly our English Springer Spaniel. I asked Jackie to paint her portrait. We supplied one photo that showed molly carrying her favourite ring in her mouth. When Jackie showed me the painting it made me smile, as it does every morning. The accuracy and detail is superb. Thanks so much.
